Mobilize and coordinate your volunteer team effectively.
Volunteer Onboarding
Bringing new volunteers into your campaign is quick and straightforward. From the Volunteers section in the sidebar, click Invite Volunteers and enter their email addresses. Each person will receive a welcome email with a link to join your workspace and create their account.
Once a volunteer joins, their profile is added to your team list. You can view their contact information, skill tags, availability, and the history of activities they have participated in — all in one place. Volunteers can also update their own profiles to let you know when they are available and what skills they bring to the team.
Task Assignment
Assigning volunteers to activities is as simple as opening an activity and clicking Assign Volunteers. You can search your volunteer list by name, availability, or location, then add them to the shift with a single click.
Each assigned volunteer receives a notification with the details of their task, including the date, time, location, and any special instructions you have added. You can update assignments at any time — for instance, if a volunteer cancels, you can quickly swap in a replacement and the new volunteer will be notified automatically.
When working with canvassing activities, you can also define specific areas or routes for each volunteer so that coverage is evenly distributed and no area is visited twice.
Communication
Winning Ground includes built-in communication tools to keep your volunteers informed and engaged throughout a campaign. You can reach your team through multiple channels:
- Email notifications: Automatic emails sent when volunteers are assigned to an activity, when details change, or when an upcoming shift is approaching.
- SMS reminders: Text message reminders sent to volunteers before their scheduled shifts to reduce no-shows.
- In-app messaging: Direct messages between organizers and volunteers within the Winning Ground platform, accessible from any device.
- Team announcements: Broadcast messages to all volunteers on a campaign or activity, useful for sharing updates, motivation, or last-minute changes.
